Soundtrack Saturday (3)

Soundtrack Saturday is a meme that I created so I can share some of the songs that pop into my head while I'm reading a book.

If you want to participate, all you have to do is create a post of your own using just four songs, link back to me, and add your name to the link-up tool so other bloggers can see your choices for the week.

I recently read Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, so I'm using that book for my soundtrack this week. If you haven't read Lola and the Boy Next Door, I highly recommend it to everyone. If you haven't read it, please stop reading because I do give away some spoilers in these Soundtrack Saturday posts to explain my song choices.

Beginning of the Book:

Okay... so for the first track on my soundtrack, I'm choosing "Lights" by Journey. Lola and the Boy Next Door is set in San Francisco, so it's kind of an obvious choice, but I love the song. "Lights" has always been one of the reasons why I've wanted to visit San Francisco because the song makes the city seem like such a beautiful place.

Character Song:

For my character, I'm going with the main character, Lola. I really enjoyed all of her fashion quirks. I loved reading about all of her fashion creations and how much work she puts into what she designs. Even her outfits were completely themed and planned out. The girl's got a style of her own. I think "Vogue" by Madonna fits her personality well.

Relationship Song:

For much of the book, Lola and Cricket are trying to deal with what happened between them in the past. They are also trying to be friends so they don't upset Lola's boyfriend, Max, but it's still very awkward for everyone involved. Because of this strange relationship, I'm choosing the song "Cool" by Gwen Stefani because it's also about making a friendship out of a past romantic relationship.

End of the Book:

So I really don't want to spoil the end of the book for anyone, but it's pretty obvious to anyone who's read the book that Lola wants a relationship like Anna and St. Clair's. She watches them while they are together at work, and she longs for that. By the end of the book, she is set up to have a relationship like that, so I'm choosing "Be My Forever" by Christina Perri and Ed Sheeran because of how much hope is in the song.

I welcome everyone to join in on the fun. If you participate, make sure to leave a comment and add the link to your Soundtrack Saturday to the link-up tool so we can all see your soundtracks!
